Welcome to the City of Los Angeles, Department of General Services,
Office of Public Safety (OPS) official web site. We appreciate your
visit to our site and encourage you to explore our web pages to learn
more about how we serve the great
City of Los Angeles.
OPS subscribes to the Community Oriented Policing Philosophy (COPPS).
With the involvement of City Employees and the Community, we take an
active role in identifying, reducing, eliminating and preventing problems
that impact the safety and order of our City facilities.
As one of the fastest growing police departments in the state of California,
General Services Police Officers are dedicated exclusively to patrolling
all of the City’s 400 parks, including the famed Griffith Park
and Hollywood sign, Elysian Park (home of the L.A. Dodgers), Hansen
and Sepulveda Dams, Venice and Cabrillo Beaches. Assigned Security Officers
are dedicated to the protection of the City’s 75 libraries, Zoo
and Convention Center, Bureau of Sanitation plants, their staff and
visitors. Safety at all City facilities is our priority, and we strive
to insure a positive experience while visiting these City facilities.
